The Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) builds socially conscious communities that foster belonging and intercultural learning for all Northeastern students.

Our Work

We advance our mission by hosting student-centered programs, workshops, dialogue, and creating spaces where students develop awareness, knowledge, and skills to engage diverse perspectives, while finding ongoing support and community.

Our Flagship Programs

  • Cultural Life Education (CLE) Team: Serves as a vital student resource for identity-based care, intercultural training, holistic wellness, and student support across the Global Network.
  • EMPOWER Fellows: Fosters dialogue, collaboration, and celebration across diverse student communities through transformative fellowship experiences.
  • First-Gen, Undocumented, and Low-Income (FUNL) Network: Strengthens cross-institutional community and resources to ensure students thrive at Northeastern.
  • Building Research, Inclusion, & Dialogue for Global Engagement (BRIDGE) Collaborative: Positions CIE as the central hub for intercultural learning by fostering strategic partnerships, thematic programming, and campus-wide collaboration by supporting students, faculty, and staff in researching, creating, and scaling intercultural learning.

  • Facilitated 44 programs focused on intercultural education, personal growth, community, and leadership
  • Reached 1,100+ students through direct engagement
  • Awarded 9 mini-grants across 12+ departments and student organizations to spark cross-campus collaboration
  • Built 30+ active campus partnerships
  • Celebrated 250+ first-generation graduates at our largest-ever First-Gen Graduation, with 300+ attendees joining in the celebration
