ESP-LFE is primarily an organization for students in Northeastern’s Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) M.S. program. The organization’s purpose is to provide leadership experience, facilitate alumni interactions, increase career development and professional enrichment opportunities, and offer community service opportunities. Most importantly, this organization strives to build environmental leaders.

As the impacts of climate change intensify, new and innovative solutions beyond the department’s curriculum are required. ESP-LFE provides a platform for students to advocate for new coursework that addresses these evolving issues. The group also hosts fundraisers for relevant issues, seminars with prominent leaders, and a safe space to voice anxieties around current and emerging socio-political and environmental issues.
